Former Dentsu ANZ CEO Angela Tangas replaced as UK/Ireland boss; returning to Australia

Dentsu has appointed Annette Male as CEO for Dentsu UK&I, replacing Angela Tangas as the Australian advertising executive leaves the business to return home with her family.

Tangas was formerly the the boss of Dentsu ANZ until making the move to London at the end of 2022. During her time helming the Japanese holding company in the UK&I region, she has been credited with building a strong culture of innovation and client solutioning, overseeing the launches of Business Transformation (BX) and Dentsu Lab London.

Male steps into the new role after six months with Dentsu as Chief Business Officer EMEA & Chief Client Officer in the UK. She has spent a significant portion of her career in the Singapore market, having previously spent time at Meta as director of global agency for APAC, and run agencies Wunderman Thompson and Digitas in roles as APAC CEO.

EMEA Chief Executive Officer, André Andrade, said: “Annette has hit the ground running since joining Dentsu in July, and I am delighted to see her take on this leadership role. For EMEA, the UK&I is one of our most exciting and critical clusters and has all the right ingredients to partner with clients and help them on their innovation and transformation journeys. I’d like to thank Angela and take this opportunity to recognise her significant contribution and leadership over the last two years.”

“I am incredibly proud to be taking on this new challenge, at the helm of one of Dentsu's biggest markets," said Male. "I have spent the last five months getting a deep understanding of our clients’ needs as well as getting to know many of the wider team around the UK and of course our fantastic leadership team,” commented Male. “Dentsu has a tremendous opportunity to capitalise on the urgent need from the C-suite to find a competitive edge. Our integrated services, combined with our ability to develop innovative solutions which drive real outcomes is a compelling offer for brands looking to escape the sea of sameness. It couldn’t be a more exciting time to be at Dentsu.”

The leadership changes will be effective as of 1 January 2025.
