Shopify has analysed its platform data to reveal Australia's top shopping trends for November, revealing a shift in consumer behaviour towards prioritising practical, everyday essentials amidst the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.

During the BFCM weekend, undergarments emerged as some of the top-selling items. Men's Trunks ranked 8th, Women's Thongs 33rd, and Women's Bikinis 41st. This trend reflects a broader consumer shift towards prioritising practical, everyday essentials amidst the ongoing cost-of-living crisis. Items like Boxer Briefs (192.9%), Men's Underwear (135.5%), Trunks (120.2%), Joggers (105.6%), and G-Strings (74.3%) saw significant growth in November.

Aphrodisiac foods also saw a significant spike in November, with Cherries leading the charge (687.7%), followed by Stone Fruits (246.9%) and Chocolate-Covered Fruits (154.6%). Increased purchases of Picnic Blankets (136.1%), Outdoor Umbrellas & Sunshades (126.4%), and Beach Mats (81.9%) were also noted.

In the tech sector, Desk and Pedestal Fans surged in popularity (86.7%), along with Powered Hand Fans and Misters (22.4%). Pool Loungers were up by 76%, and Ice Cream Makers saw a 100.2% increase. Electric Toothbrushes (51.6%) and Electric Massagers (26.1%) also saw notable growth.

The top 10 trending products overall included Cherries, Golf Toys, Sports Drinks, Remote Control Robots, Body Mists, Stone Fruits, Boxer Briefs, Tent Vestibules, Chocolate Covered Fruit, and Makeup Finishing Sprays.

Top trending tech products included Stereo Systems, Computer Monitor Accessories, Direct Boxes, Projection Screens, Mobile Phone Charms & Straps, and Joysticks.

Top trending food and beverage products included Cherries, Sports Drinks, Stone Fruits, Chocolate Covered Fruit, and Cream. Top trending apparel products included Boxer Briefs, Men's Underwear, Trunks, Joggers, and G-Strings.
